According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of the Arak Metropolitan Municipality, Faraji, Deputy for Planning and Human Capital Development of the Arak Metropolitan Municipality, while outlining the outcomes of the latest Research Council meetings and the process of establishing the knowledge management system, emphasized the need for decision-making based on scientific findings. ‌ Research Council; a powerful arm for advancing municipal affairs scientifically Referring to the importance of holding Research Council meetings regularly, Faraji stated: Our fundamental goal in this council is to use research programs effectively and purposefully in order to gain an accurate understanding of the knowledge related to urban management. We seek to define and propose general policies for making research results practical so that the scientific and technical aspects of all municipal affairs can move forward with greater precision. He went on to mention specific cases discussed in the recent meeting and added: In support of the scientific richness of the urban field, a graduate thesis on the vital topic of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) was reviewed and developed. Also, a comprehensive study proposal from the university on urban waste management and organization was presented, and council members examined its dimensions from scientific and practical perspectives. Discussion and exchange of views on using the results of this plan to improve waste management processes was one of the main priorities of this session. ‌ The third step of knowledge management; extracting the “knowledge tree” of Arak Municipality In another part of his remarks, the Deputy for Planning and Human Capital Development addressed the establishment of the knowledge management system and stated: At present, specialized meetings related to extracting the knowledge tree, as part of the third phase of knowledge management implementation, are being held seriously. Our goal at this stage is to identify and categorize the knowledge domains related to the municipality’s broad activities. Faraji noted: With the active participation of experts and specialists, a significant portion of the organizations’ key knowledge and experiences has been identified so far, and this process continues in order to document the municipality’s intellectual assets. We believe knowledge management is the bridge between past experiences and future innovations for better service to citizens.
