According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of the Arak Metropolitan Municipality, dredging and cleaning operations for the canals and surface channels in the area have begun. This measure, given the approaching rainy season and in order to prevent flooding, street waterlogging, and wastewater accumulation, is being carried out according to a pre-determined plan and includes cleaning and clearing covered and open cross channels, gutters, and manholes. Due to the large volume of waste in densely populated and commercial areas, cleaning of streets and water channels is carried out continuously so that no obstacle is created in directing runoff water. The report also emphasizes the need for citizen cooperation, and respected shopkeepers in the bazaar and nearby areas have been asked to refrain from dumping waste, garbage, and construction debris into the canals and to cooperate with the municipality in keeping the urban environment clean. A participatory project to clean the roof of the historic bazaar and remove blockages from gutters has also begun to prevent possible damage caused by the blockage of rainwater pathways. In conclusion, citizens have been asked to report any accumulation of waste or blockage of canals by calling the 137 system so that the municipal emergency services team can take action in the shortest possible time.
