According to the Communications and International Affairs Department of the Arak Metropolitan Municipality, Abdollahi-Far, Deputy for Urban Services of the Arak Municipality, announced the round-the-clock implementation of spring tree spraying operations across the city and said: This measure is being carried out to preserve and improve the health of urban green spaces, control and prevent the spread of pests, and increase the vitality and freshness of trees. Abdollahi-Far, referring to the importance of safeguarding the city’s green assets, stated: Preserving the city’s trees and vegetation cover is one of the main priorities of urban management, and in this regard, care and preventive programs are continuously and purposefully on the agenda. He added: The spring tree spraying operation is being carried out under the full observance of plant protection principles and pest management, under the supervision of specialized experts and the Green Space Maintenance and Supervision Department. The Deputy for Urban Services of the Arak Municipality continued: Since the beginning of the current year, 100,000 trees in various parts of the city have been covered by spraying operations, and this measure plays an important role in pest control, strengthening the natural growth of trees, and improving the quality of the urban environment. Abdollahi-Far, emphasizing scientific and up-to-date approaches in pest management, stated: The policy of the urban management مجموعه is to use methods that, while being highly effective, cause the least harm to the environment. For this purpose, the use of selective pesticides, modern insecticides, yellow insect-attracting strips, as well as reducing the frequency of spraying and the amount of insecticide use, has been placed on the agenda. He noted: In selecting pest control methods, efforts have been made to use compounds that pose the least risk to the natural enemies of pests and, at the same time, create the least resistance in pests. The Deputy for Urban Services of the Arak Municipality, referring to actions taken in recent months, said: The first stage of tree pest management began in Esfand of last year with winter oil spraying against scale insects on elm trees and armored scale insects on ash, elm, and poplar trees. He continued: The first stage of pest control in the current year also began from mid-Ordibehesht 1405 with the control of rose aphids on rose bushes across the city. Also, the second stage of pest management and monitoring was pursued by installing 10,000 meters of yellow insect-attracting strips on tree trunks in boulevards and a number of parks. Abdollahi-Far added: At present, the subsequent stages of pest control against acacia aphids and elm aphids across the city are being carried out with the activity of 9 mobile teams, and this process will continue until satisfactory results are achieved. He concluded by referring to the municipality’s supplementary programs in the field of green space maintenance: The purchase of various macro and micro chemical fertilizers for the special nutrition of part of the city’s trees has also been placed on the agenda so that, alongside pest control, we can provide more suitable conditions for the growth and sustainability of trees.
